Welcome to Alder & Vale. These terms govern your use of our website and our bespoke bookbinding and repair services. By engaging our services or purchasing from our shop, you agree to these terms.
1. Our Services
Alder & Vale provides artisanal bookbinding and professional book repair services from our studio in Bath. We also offer a selection of handcrafted journals available for purchase through our online shop.
2. Bespoke Commissions & Repairs
For bespoke binding and repair work, the process is as follows:
- Enquiry: You provide details of your project via our enquiry form.
- Quote: We will review your request and provide a formal quote.
- Deposit: To secure your commission, a 40% deposit is required. This must be paid via the invoice we send you following your acceptance of the quote.
- Completion: We will notify you via email once your item is ready for collection or dispatch.
3. Shop Purchases
Items purchased directly from our online shop are subject to the prices listed at the time of purchase. Payment is processed securely at the point of sale.
4. Cancellations & Refunds
Bespoke Commissions: As these are custom-made items, the 40% deposit is non-refundable once work has commenced. If you wish to cancel before work begins, please contact us immediately.
Shop Items: If you are unhappy with a journal purchased from our shop, please contact us within 14 days of receipt. Items must be returned in their original, unused condition for a refund or exchange.
5. Liability
While we take the utmost care with every volume entrusted to us, we cannot be held liable for pre-existing damage or the inherent fragility of antique materials. Our liability is limited to the value of the services provided.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use our website and services for lawful purposes only. You must not use our site to transmit harmful code, engage in fraudulent activity, or harass our staff.
